A call, and six who believed

After Bible school he felt inadequate and kept putting it off. About six people, with his wife beside him, believed in someone who did not yet believe in himself. That was the start of IPC.

  2. The early days

    Praying at dawn

The old church was too small, and IPC needed a place to call its own. Four people prayed every dawn, from 3:30 to 6 a.m., almost directly opposite where The Palace stands today.

  3. A step of faith

    A $1,000 seed

All the money the church had was $1,000. At a programme he felt led to sow it as a seed to the man of God, believing God for a place of our own.

  4. A month later

    The $3,000 deposit

A member in Europe sent a $3,000 tithe, and it became the deposit on the land. "Sometimes leadership can be a lonely walk," he says. "What you believe God has led you to do, you must stand for it."

  5. Paying for the land

    Everyone gave

A fellow minister had a taxi to sell, and the landowners needed a car, so it went to them as payment and he was repaid later. A brother in Europe sent money, and the church added what it could, until The Palace was a place we could call our own.

  6. Three decades

    Faithful and growing

Kept by "the experiential sense of the grace of God", and by faithful, loyal members, some of whom have been here for 30 years. The family now includes branches at East Legon, East Legon Hills, Amasaman and Atomic.

Raising heroes.

"That everyone's life will affect somebody, and everyone will dare to make somebody better than they met that person."

A church free of competition and intimidation, where everyone is respected for who they are in Christ, whatever their background. The next chapter: winning the lost for Christ and opening more branches.
